Why was SANCO formed?
The South African National Civics Organisation or South African National Civic Organisation (SANCO) is an umbrella political organization in South Africa. It was founded in March 1992 to coordinate among existing civic organizations, which had been central in the latter phases of the struggle against apartheid.
It’s a chance to learn from others, to respect other cultures and embrace the concept of working together. Through this process, we hope to achieve greater development within these communities. We believe that international voluntary services help empower local communities to develop self-reliance and sustainability.
